License your original sounds with Getty Images! We’re excited today to be announcing a new partnership with Getty Images that allows our sound creators to make their sounds available for licensing through Getty Images Music — with only a few clicks. More info on the blog:http://bit.ly/Plhjtc

Today in Exciting Partnerships

I am a SoundCloud fan. Have been for a few years now. We use SoundCloud (/thelicenselab) to offer catalog previews and to host tracks prior to their being fully available on our website, and we send playlists of private tracks to clients nearly every day using SoundCloud’s fantastic features.
I am a fan.
I am not, however, a fan of non-exclusive music licensing… for many reasons, but the largest of which is what it can mean downstream for both the creator (musician, producer, or composer) and the licensor (client).
It is important that content creators read the fine print in the Getty agreement.
And I am not—repeat, NOT—saying musicians and composers shouldn’t take advantage of this opportunity. Just that it’s vitally important to understand the whole picture of the agreement into which you are entering. Yes, there are potential positives. There are also some rather significant potential negatives.
