Wait, i'm not sure i understand. You're saying you'd be more comfortable raising your kids in a society with more guns around? Even knowing how irresponsible people are when it comes to something like talking on the cell phone and driving, you're ok giving more of them guns in public places?

I don’t see how either would be the best possible example of a society in which I’d like to raise my kids. Both have serious issues. Neither seems like a healthy environment.
I’m not comfortable with a) No Guns For John Q Public, nor am I comfortable with b) All The Guns For Everyone Always And Everywhere.
I don’t think a society in which only those in charge and criminals have weaponry, and I don’t see how arming everyone is a good (let alone the best) possible solution in any emergency scenario.
